Where Do We Start?
One of the first questions to ask yourself in approaching your web project is, "Why do I need a website?" This question might sound like we think you don't need a website. Wrong. If you have a business in the 21st century, you probably need a website.
The reason for this question is to bring you, the business owner, and the website designer into the same ballpark. You both need to know what your goals and expectations are. Who do you expect to be visiting your site, and what exactly do you want them to do on your site?
Sure, the simple answer is that we want more potential customers to visit our site so they buy more stuff from us. Regrettably, it is not quite as simple as "build it and they will come".
The Process of Building a Successful Web Site
In years past, many companies spent a lot of time building their website and then forgot to maintain it once it was done.
Because our websites are built on a CMS (Content Management System) such as WordPress or Joomla!, it is very convenient and practical to build the site in stages.
This allows you to get a new site established and your most important information posted and then add sections and pages of information as they are developed. This is much better for search engines to have continuous content added over a period of time.
This is where we get back to our original question and make sure we are on the same page, that we have set goals for what we want to accomplish with the website and how it will integrate with the rest of our marketing plan.
Planning Content & Design
Once we know what we want to accomplish, we can start planning the content. A wireframe of the menu items and corresponding pages is determined. Then, we select what content is to be developed in the first stage of the site.
Once we determine what content will be used, we can then start designing the template for the site. The template controls the layout of all the pages, the colors and the overall user interface. This design process can be underway during the same time that the content is being written.
Once the template is installed and the content added, additional tweaking to both the design and content is done until the first stage is completed. It is then launched, or made viewable, to the public.
Web Packages for Small Businesses
We now offer Web Packages for small businesses that need only a small site with basic content. These packages use a prebuilt theme that is modified with custom colors and logo. This makes an economical solution for the less complex sites with a smaller budget. Click here to see more info on our Web Packages.
